Known for his intricate color-field paintings of the 70’s, which used thousands of finely nuanced hues in small, rectangular units, Richard Cramer has since worked more narratively. His Buzz Series drawings and Rivington Head paintings feature cartoonish figuration.
Cramer taught at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia for 37 years. His Urban Industrial Landscape and Color classes were favorites among students.
Now living on New York City’s Lower East Side, Cramer has been working on a series of “Bird” drawings for the past nine years.
